If you’ve ever danced a Bob Isaacs contra, you know he’s a master of musical momentum—crafting choreography that feels both intuitive and exhilarating. With his rich repertoire, crisp teaching style, and uncanny instinct for flow, Bob has earned a national reputation for calling dances that are as satisfying to the brain as they are to the feet. Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or an aspiring caller, Bob brings clarity, wit, and a love for the tradition that lifts every hall he enters.

This July 4th weekend at The Dancing Fish, Bob Isaacs will lead a special Caller’s Workshop Series open to all who wish to explore the art of contra calling. Sessions run Friday through Sunday (July 4–6, 2025), culminating in a workshop-led dance on Sunday morning. The full workshop series costs $25. For the full schedule and details, download the event flyer or contact Bob directly at gridnik64@gmail.com.

Luke Donforth brings a warm and inviting playfulness to the hall with his calling. Potluck Dinner

A potluck dinner has been added to the schedule on Friday and Saturday before the dance! Food, fun and fellowship. It might be raining, but the tables are covered at the barn. And the grill is covered. Show up early and bring a dish. Let’s try to start arriving and cooking at 3:30, serving starts at 4. Please bring something to share with your friends; food and tails of romance and adventures.

Suggestions:
  • Cheese/crackers
  • Main dish- cooked or to be grilled
  • Vegetables – cooked or to be grilled
  • Salads –
  • Dessert –

We will provide plates, service, 3 large grills, coffee, napkins. There is a refrigerator in the barn when needed. If you want grilled salmon, let Michael know, so he can be prepared.

Contact (text 352-665-5604) Michael Croft – suggested if wanting grilling space or expecting salmon, so we know no one is left without.

This is new to us and not sure how much interest there is. If this is a big success, we will set out the leftovers on Saturday, between the dances. Please contact Michael (texting 352-665-5604) so we have a general idea of interest, attendance, and fare. Hopefully, we will have lots of attendance and many main dishes, some vegetables and salads, and one or two cheese and desserts. Most of us look forward to the dinner breaks, for food and to socialize. Join in the 4th of July potluck party. We are socially interesting people. Let’s be nice to one another: Share food and stories with each other before the 6 o’clock dance!
  • As always, we will have picnic tables, a sink, a refrigerator, a microwave, a coffee maker, two propane grills, ice, water, and cups.
