Life on the shady side of Bhakti guest house in Melrose, Florida

Contra Dancers invited for dinner at Bhakti House in Melrose on Saturday, 4 October at 4:30 pm

Bhakti Retreat House is a historic home dating from the 1880s that has been adapted for retreat / lodging use. Situated in the Historic District of Melrose, in a quiet residential neighborhood within “bicycling distance” of The Dancing Fish, and set on about one acre under shady oak trees, Bhakti House exudes a calm, tree-canopied ambience.

The lodging style at Bhakti House leans toward a meditation-centered, retreat mode more than a standard hotel or B&B. The emphasis is on quiet, introspection, community, and a spiritual atmosphere. Because of its character, Bhakti House is often fully booked and considered a rare find in the area.

Guest reviews often use terms like “magical,” “full of positive energy,” “quiet,” “clean,” “peaceful,” and transformative. The hosts also provide vegetarian or plant-based food, often beautifully presented, which is part of the retreat experience.

On Saturday, 4 October at 4:30 pm, you are invited to join other contra dancers for a sumptuous vegetarian dinner at Bhakti House prepared by your host Leah. The cost is $17 plus $3 for a not-to-be-missed dessert. Reservations may be accepted “up to the last minute”.
