St. Patrick’s Day contra dance in Gainesville

On Friday March 17, 2023 7-9:30 pm, Gainesville’s Jonathan L. King called contra dances to the live music of The Gadabouts.

And to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, our own Irish Irish Dancers Director Piper Call will be leading everyone through two Irish set dances (Connemara Set figures 1 & 2) at the half-time break.

And don’t miss John Rogers with Jenny and the Stray Dogs at The Dancing Fish in Melrose Saturday March 18th from 6 to 9 pm.

  • Contra dancing is fun and we’ll teach you how.
  • No special dress is required
  • Wear comfortable, casual attire & soft-soled shoes.
  • Smoking and/or alcoholic beverages are not allowed at our dances.

  • 06:00 pm — Setup
  • 06:45 pm — Introductory Workshop (New dancers are encourage to attend workshop)
  • 07:00 – 09:30 pm — Contra Dance
  • 09:30 – 10:00 pm — Cleanup

Suggested Donation:
$10 (ages 26+)
$5 (ages 16-25)

Dancers ages 15 & under get in FREE when accompanied by an adult.

COVID Safety / COVID Protocol

  • Masks are encouraged but are optional.
  • We strongly recommend that people be vaccinated and boosted before engaging in this close, aerobic, dance activity.
  • If you feel sick on dance night, then please stay home!

Please bring your own non-alcoholic beverage.
